Coiled deep within lies a veil
Timeless and black as night
and cold...
Colder than the void that winks out the stars
and breeds between them.
Here is that bitter strangulation
of all those bound secrets
writhing in desperate throes
beneath the asylum of my flesh.
What a facade.
How strange, I think, that my joy burns so
and that this rose has thorns
....venomous extacy.....
and that the warmth I treasure bites with the recklessness of winters life-breath.
How strange....
Still,
I feel you reaching beyond to tear at the threads that twine themselves so thickly about me.
Soon the veil will be unravelled
as will I.
No more secrets
and that is why I'm most afraid.....
